Greater Manchester Police: Three Arrested after Tactical Vehicle Stop. Lock Snap Kits and Balaclavas Seized.

We all know that Motorcycle Thieves are involved with Burglaries, and that these often go hand-in-hand with thefts from garages, property and vehicles.

Greater Manchester Police were involved in a pursuit after a stolen vehicle was spotted around 10pm on Tuesday 14th January 2024, that they believed had been used in local burglaries in South Manchester.

Officers from the TVI Unit (Tactical Vehicle Interceptors) engaged with the vehicle nearing the border of Cheshire. A plan was implemented to bring the vehicle to a stop, however it failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. Upon bringing the vehicle to a stop, three men were arrested aged 35,39 &40 years.

A search of the vehicle discovered lock snap kits and balaclavas were in the vehicle. The car was returned to it’s rightful owner and the theft tools were seized by Police. Three men remain in custody, with one now answering to recall to prison. All were described by GMP as ‘Prolific Offenders’.

These types of Stops should instill confidence that Police are proactively stopping offenders that are engaged in Burglaries and associated vehicle thefts. These proactive stops disrupt the activities of Burglars and Motorcycle Thieves alike and any proactive action should be welcomed and encouraged. Although these were not found with a motorcycle at the time, it does not mean that these activities are different. They are often linked by opportunity to make a quick buck. Police will treat all possible offenders in the same way. Today they had a car returned, tomorrow it may be a bike!
