So, It's Gone! - Your Pride & Joy has Vanished into the Night
You are no doubt reading this page with a sick feeling in your stomach and have no control over what is happening. A victim of Motorcycle Theft is not a nice position to be in, you feel that you don’t know what to do, where to go or who to turn to – you just want your bike back!
Hopefully, you have already reported it on our REPORT page, if not – go and do that now! The homepage has directions on what to do when reporting a stolen motorcycle, so if you haven’t already, follow that and continue to the report page. The faster we get these things up and out there, the better your chances. We have many volunteers writing up and sending out appeals over our networks throughout the UK and SEO guys are attaching your bikes details and ensuring the world knows your bike is hot!
Your head is a mess and your emotions are all over the place. All you want to do is find your bike. The important thing here, whilst you are not thinking clearly as you would normally do, is to stop, take stock and get your mind thinking straight. Then you are in a position to call on some friends and family and go off searching local streets, alleyways, parkland and bushes to see if your bike has been stashed someone. Often they sit in these spots for a week to see if they have a tracker on or not. Try to take these little sorties early in the morning when the thieves have tired from their nights stealing and getting some sleep. This is the time the bikes are most likely parked up and not being ridden around. Ensure you do not approach thieves, as many are armed and certainly don’t go alone. If you see your bike being ridden in a park call 999.
IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING, TALK TO US!
We have all been in this situation before, you are certainly not alone! That is why we do what we do, as we have been in your shoes, and we seen those make mistakes with offering rewards that ended in further robbery, we have seen others take the law into their own hands to recover their bikes, and found themselves on the wrong side of the law and we could tell you stories all day long where the victim becomes the convict. It is normal to feel about plans of retribution – your brain is processing what has happened. As long as it stays in your head, it’s fairly healthy. Patreons and Supporters have access to a Case Handler who will help you through the process, but they are available if you are struggling to cope.
We operate a multi faceted approach to dealing with Motorcycle Theft and related crime. Our main task is to act as intermediaries between the Police and the Motorcycle Community and to ensure victims voices are heard, and their crimes dealt with and investigated. Holding Police to account allows them to see where they are falling short, and where they are succeeding. For us, it keeps motorcycle theft in the spotlight where it needs to be. You may be feeling a little vulnerable right now, but rest assured, you have the whole motorcycle community standing beside you and supporting you.
You may feel like capital punishment is a just means of dealing with bike thieves, and like we say – we are tackling this problem from ALL sides. This includes intercepting disenchanted youth that are groomed into criminal gangs as spotters or helping in the thefts. Despite the natural feeling that you would wish for them to be pushed off a cliff, we prefer to push them off the path of criminality. It isn’t about being soft – it’s about cutting the supply of vulnerable youth that are available to be groomed into crime. Not only bike theft, but county lines and so on – they are all linked by the same ‘business model’ Stopping the supply and increasing sentences for those that are too far to rehabilitate does reduce the crime figures by a shocking margin.
Our Purpose is to reduce theft and the risk to our community. So your property stays where you left it, and you do not have to fear attack when you are riding your bikes, or avoid using them freely. It can be very difficult for some to overcome what has happened to them, and that is not acceptable. You should feel safe and supported, and that is what we aim to achieve as a community. To reduce theft and allow you to have some wind-down time after a hard days work without looking over your shoulder for machete wielding theives.
